One scenario here is something other than pure Trump madness. (1) Trump launches a military takeover of Greenland, putting a torpedo below NATO’s figurative waterline; (2) Putin announces a ceasefire of uncertain duration timed as an October gift to Trump ahead of the mid-term elections.

Trump is such a dummy. He could just take Denmark, which is a whole lot smaller than Greenland, and get Greenland and the Faroe Islands in the bargain.
Surely the Faroe Islands are also essential to US national security, wherever they are.
Anyway, most Danes also speak English better than many Americans.
